Boxing Daily Report from the Zimbabwe National Finals 2022,  taking place on 26/04/2022 from Harare, Zimbabwe:

The Harare venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Light Heavyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Joel Dixon (1 - 4(2)) who hails from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and Robert Saomba(22 - 6) from Harare, Zimbabwe.  

Round 1: 

Saomba switches the action to the outside.  Dixon is on target with a cross.  
Saomba is looking to keep his distance and connects with a cross.  
Saomba is looking to close the distance and hits home with a right uppercut.  
Saomba lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Saomba sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.

Dixon switches the action to the outside and tries to land an overhand left, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Saomba hits home with a right hook.  
Dixon connects with a left hook.  
Saomba is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands with a stiff jab.  
Saomba pivots to the left of his opponent.  Saomba throws a left hook, but his opponent steps away from the punch.  Saomba holds on to his opponent.  Dixon leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Saomba is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Saomba and breaks the clinch.  
Saomba lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Saomba lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Saomba closes the distance and lands a right hook followed by  two left hooks to his opponents head.  
Saomba walks Dixon down, trapping him in a corner.  Saomba digs in a right uppercut to Dixon's ribcage.  
Saomba pivots to the side of his opponent.  Saomba lands a left hook.  Saomba holds on to his opponent.  Saomba is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. Dixon is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Dixon to stop fouling.

Dixon throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Dixon.

Saomba steps inside.  Dixon throws a right hook, but Saomba holds on to his opponent.  Saomba tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Dixon behind the head. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Saomba.  
Saomba pivots to the left of his opponent.  Saomba throws a left hook, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  Saomba ties up his opponent.  Saomba uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Dixon behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Saomba attempts to land a right uppercut, but Dixon blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Saomba is on target with a cross.  
Saomba steps inside and throws a left hook, but is not on target.  Saomba ties up his opponent.  Saomba leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Saomba drives a solid jab into his opponents face.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Dixon's trainer is telling his fighter he needs a knockout to win!  Saomba's trainer is telling his fighter to play it safe for the remainder of the fight.

Saomba lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Saomba is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands with a stiff jab.  
Saomba sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Dixon lands a firm cross.  
Saomba is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents liver.  
Dixon steps inside and forces Saomba to retreat onto the ropes.  Saomba lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Dixon switches the action to the outside.  Dixon sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Saomba stands off with low guard waiting for his opponent to launch an attack.  Dixon throws an overhand right, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Dixon attempts to land a cross, but Saomba slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Saomba EXPLODES a hurtful overhand right into his opponents face.  DIXON IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  HE TRIES TO RISE BUT HIS LEGS DONT RESPOND...THE COUNT REACHES 10!  The winner by KO is Saomba!
