Merrill Beatrice vs George Cowden

Boxing Daily Report from the Canada National Finals 2023,  taking place on 11/03/2023 from Toronto, Canada:

The Toronto venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Lightweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Merrill Beatrice (27(1) - 5) who hails from Saskatoon, Canada and George Cowden(31 - 4) from Brampton, Canada.  

Round 1: 

Beatrice gets on the inside and is on target with a right hook.

Cowden walks his opponent down, trapping him in the corner.  Cowden drives a spiteful jab into his opponents face.  
Cowden pivots from in front of his opponent.  Cowden attempts to land a jab, but Beatrice sidesteps and counters with a firm left uppercut.

Cowden quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Cowden attempts to land a left uppercut, but Beatrice parries the shot and counters with a solid left uppercut.  
Beatrice lands a cross to the head followed by a left hook to the body.
