Cruz Puentes vs Dario Che

Boxing Daily Report from the Honduras National Finals 2023,  taking place on 01/04/2023 from Tegucigalpa, Honduras:

The Tegucigalpa venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have the Final of the Flyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Cruz Puentes (10(1) - 13) who hails from Tegucigalpa, Honduras and Dario Che(24 - 13) from San Pedro Sula, Honduras.  

Round 1: 

Puentes attempts to land a jab, but Che slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Puentes steps away from his opponent.  Che connects with an overhand right.  
Che steps inside.  Puentes is on target with a firm right hook to his opponents ribcage.  Puentes throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a cross.

Puentes switches the action to the outside and connects with an overhand right.  
Che lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Che manages to force Puentes onto the ropes.  Che drives a left uppercut into his opponents body.  
Puentes is looking to keep the action on the outside and is on target with a cross to his opponents body.  
Che lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Puentes tries to land a jab, but Che blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Puentes steps to the outside and is on target with a jab to Che's body.  
Che gets on the inside.  Puentes goes for the bodyshot, but lands south of the border!  The ref stops the action and gives Che time to recover.  
Che digs in a right hook to Puentes's body.  
Che drives a left uppercut into his opponents body.  
Che throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Che walks his opponent down, trapping him in the corner.  Che drives a left hook into his opponents ribs.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Che's trainer is telling his fighter he is winning comfortably and should get on his bike for the remainder of the fight.
