John Meredith vs Kian Shadden

Boxing Daily Report from the New Zealand National Finals 2023,  taking place on 11/04/2023 from Waitakere, New Zealand:

The Waitakere venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Light Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are John Meredith (3 - 5) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and Kian Shadden(23 - 10) from Manukau, New Zealand.  

Round 1: 

Shadden goes for the bodyshot, but lands south of the border!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends Meredith to the neutral corner.  He has a stern word with Shadden and threatens a point deduction if continues to foul.  
Meredith tries to keep the action at long range and throws a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a sharp left hook to Meredith's body.  
Shadden lands a left hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.
