Boxing Daily Report from the Nicaragua National Finals 2023,  taking place on 11/04/2023 from Leon, Nicaragua:

The Leon venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Middleweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Jose Valero (27(1) - 9) who hails from Masaya, Nicaragua and Montana Duenas(21(1) - 11) from Managua, Nicaragua.  

Round 1: 

Valero is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a cross.

Duenas is looking to close the distance and walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Duenas pivots to the left of his opponent.  Valero drives a right hook into Duenas's ribs.  Valero holds on to his opponent.  Valero tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Duenas behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.
