Aimon Montesano vs Santiago Ovando

Boxing Daily Report from the Puerto Rico National Finals 2023,  taking place on 11/04/2023 from San Juan, Puerto Rico:

The San Juan venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Aimon Montesano (12 - 14) who hails from San Juan, Puerto Rico and Santiago Ovando(24 - 10(1)) from San Juan, Puerto Rico.  

Round 1: 

Ovando gets on the inside.  Ovando pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook.  
Ovando gets on the inside and forces Montesano to retreat onto the ropes.  Ovando quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Montesano throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a cross.  
Montesano steps to the outside and connects with a cross.  
Montesano steps away from his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Montesano sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Ovando is looking to close the distance.  Ovando pivots to the left of his opponent, but Montesano lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Ovando drives a solid jab into his opponents body.  
Montesano steps to the outside.  Montesano sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Montesano attempts to land an overhand left, but Ovando slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Montesano feints a right, and then lands a jab.  
Ovando quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and digs in a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Montesano lands a jab.  
Ovando advances into close range and connects with a right hook.  
Ovando walks his opponent into the corner.  Montesano lands a left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Montesano's trainer is telling his fighter to play it safe for the remainder of the fight.

Ovando quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and drives a left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Ovando steps inside.  Ovando sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook.  
Montesano is looking to keep his distance.  Ovando is on target with a cross.  
Montesano is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Ovando connects with a cross.  
Montesano steps to the outside.  Montesano sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Ovando lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Ovando gets on the inside.  Ovando sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Montesano is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.

Montesano sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Ovando strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Ovando hits the target with a hard jab.  
Ovando closes the distance and walks Montesano down, trapping him in a corner.  Montesano digs in a left hook to Ovando's body.  Montesano throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a right hook to Montesano's ribs.
