Boxing Daily Report from the Zimbabwe National Finals 2023,  taking place on 26/04/2023 from Harare, Zimbabwe:

The Harare venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Kieran Mombeshora (16 - 18) who hails from Harare, Zimbabwe and Phornello Mataz(9 - 21) from Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe.  

Round 1: 

Mataz advances into close range and is on target with a left hook.  
Mataz closes the distance and is on target with a right hook to his opponents ribs.  Mataz throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Mombeshora switches the action to the outside and drives a jab into his opponents body.

Mombeshora steps to the outside and connects with a cross.

Mataz gets on the inside and connects with a sharp left hook.  Mombeshora clinches his opponent.  Mataz is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Mataz about fouling.  
Mombeshora tries to keep the action at long range.  Mombeshora sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Mataz gets on the inside.  Mombeshora throws a left hook, but is unable to find the target.  Mombeshora holds on to his opponent.  Mataz is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. As they grapple, Mombeshora pushes his forearm into Mataz's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Mombeshora to stop fouling.  
Mombeshora lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.
