Carolus Yang vs Joshua Mensah

Boxing Daily Report from the Africa Boxing Championships 2024,  taking place on 09/01/2024 from Tangier, Morocco:

The Tangier venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Middleweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Carolus Yang (38 - 16) who hails from Yaoundé, Cameroon and Joshua Mensah(41(2) - 8) from Kumasi, Ghana.  

Round 1: 

Mensah pivots to the right of his opponent, but Yang drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Yang feints a right hook, and then lands a cross to his opponents body.  
Mensah steps inside.  Yang is on target with a left hook.  
Mensah lands a jab.  
Mensah closes the distance and is on target with a left hook.

Yang steps to the outside.  Yang feints a left, and then is on target with a cross.  
Yang switches the action to the outside.  Yang feints a jab, and then lands a sharp cross.  
Yang lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Yang steps to the outside and strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Mensah pivots to the right of his opponent.  Mensah tries to land a jab, but Yang sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Yang digs in a left hook to Mensah's body.  
Mensah quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends Yang to the neutral corner.  He warns Mensah that he could be heading for a point deduction.

Yang tries to keep the action at long range and hits home with a cross.
