Arjan Gencay vs Galinthias Shundi

Boxing Daily Report from the Albania National Finals 2024,  taking place on 11/03/2024 from Tirana, Albania:

The Tirana venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Bantamweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Arjan Gencay (23(2) - 28) who hails from Tirana, Albania and Galinthias Shundi(7 - 13(3)) from Tirana, Albania.  

Round 1: 

Gencay lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Shundi attempts to land a jab, but Gencay sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Shundi throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.

Shundi pivots to the side of his opponent, but Gencay lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Gencay steps inside.  Shundi throws a right uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Shundi sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Gencay lands a left uppercut to the body, a right hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Shundi quickly recovers. 
Gencay connects with a left hook.  
Gencay advances into close range and is on target with a right uppercut to Shundi's ribcage.  
Gencay forces Shundi to retreat onto the ropes.  Gencay hits home with a left hook.  
Gencay closes the distance.  Shundi throws a right hook, but Gencay holds on to his opponent.  Gencay leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Shundi hits home with a stiff jab.  
Gencay is looking to close the distance and lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Gencay lands a cross followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Gencay advances into close range and hits home with a left hook.  Gencay holds on to his opponent.  Gencay is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. Shundi pushes his forearm into Gencay's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.

Gencay pivots from in front of his opponent.  Shundi throws a right hook, but Gencay ties up his opponent.  Gencay is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Gencay about fouling.  
Shundi switches the action to the outside and lands a solid jab.  
Gencay digs in a right hook to Shundi's ribcage.  
Shundi attempts to land a right hook, but Gencay blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Shundi throws a left hook, but Gencay clinches his opponent.  Shundi is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Shundi and breaks the clinch.  
Gencay digs in a weighty left uppercut to his opponents body.  SHUNDI WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Shundi recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Gencay is on target with a left uppercut.  
Gencay drives a firm left uppercut into Shundi's body.  
Gencay quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Shundi drives a right hook into his opponents body.  Gencay ties up his opponent.  Gencay leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Shundi lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Gencay lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Gencay lands a left hook to the body, a right uppercut to the body and a right hook to the head.  Gencay holds on to his opponent.  Gencay leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Gencay's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Shundi is looking desparately tired as he staggers back to his corner.  At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Shundi's trainer is telling his fighter he needs a knockout to win!
