Tariq Shirani vs Girish Nallakannu

Boxing Daily Report from the Iran National Finals 2024,  taking place on 26/03/2024 from Isfahan, Iran:

The Isfahan venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Light Heavyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Tariq Shirani (4 - 9) who hails from Shiraz, Iran and Girish Nallakannu(26(4) - 16(1)) from Tehran, Iran.  

Round 1: 

Shirani closes the distance.  Shirani pivots to the right of his opponent, but Nallakannu is on target with a left uppercut.

Nallakannu steps inside and manages to force Shirani into a corner.  Shirani lands a left hook.

Nallakannu forces Shirani to retreat onto the ropes.  Nallakannu digs in a right uppercut to his opponents body.

Shirani uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Nallakannu behind the head. Nallakannu pushes his forearm into Shirani's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.
