Boxing Daily Report from the Peru National Finals 2024,  taking place on 11/04/2024 from Arequipa, Peru:

The Arequipa venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Lightweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Jose Leyva (1 - 11) who hails from Lima, Peru and Salvador Antonio(13(1) - 14) from Chiclayo, Peru.  

Round 1: 

Antonio is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Leyva is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Antonio is on target with a solid cross.  
Leyva gets on the inside and connects with a stinging left hook.  
Antonio lands a stinging right uppercut.  
Antonio gets on the inside.  Leyva digs in a right hook to his opponents body.  
Leyva connects with a left uppercut.

Antonio advances into close range and lands a left hook to the head, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.

Round 2: 

Antonio lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a right uppercut to the head.  
Antonio is looking to close the distance.  Antonio pivots to the right of his opponent and digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Antonio closes the distance and lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  He then lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Antonio steps inside and hits home with a firm left hook.  
Antonio pivots to the right of his opponent.  Antonio throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left hook to Antonio's ribs.  
Antonio quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent, but Leyva connects with a firm right hook.  
Antonio cuts off the ring, trapping Leyva on the ropes.  Antonio pivots from in front of his opponent and hits home with a cross.  
Antonio pivots to the left of his opponent and is on target with a firm right hook.  
Antonio gets on the inside and is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  Antonio holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Antonio pushes his forearm into Leyva's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Antonio about fouling.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Leyva's trainer is telling his fighter he needs a knockout to win!  Antonio's trainer is telling his fighter he is winning comfortably and should get on his bike for the remainder of the fight.

Leyva throws a right uppercut, but Antonio holds on to his opponent.  Antonio uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Leyva behind the head. Leyva is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Antonio's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Antonio steps to the outside and is on target with a jab.  
Leyva advances into close range.  Antonio drives a left uppercut into Leyva's body.  
Antonio steps away from his opponent.  Antonio feints a right hook, and then is on target with a cross.  
Antonio is looking to keep his distance.  Leyva hits home with a firm cross.  
Antonio throws a right hook, but his opponent steps away from the shot.  Antonio clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Leyva pushes his forearm into Antonio's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Leyva.
