Diego Montoya vs Ximen Mariscal

Boxing Daily Report from the Nicaragua National Finals 2024,  taking place on 17/04/2024 from Masaya, Nicaragua:

The Masaya venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have the Final of the Light Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Diego Montoya (17(1) - 5) who hails from Managua, Nicaragua and Ximen Mariscal(11(1) - 9) from Leon, Nicaragua.  

Round 1: 

Mariscal feints a left, and then throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a sharp cross.  
Mariscal walks Montoya down, trapping him on the ropes.  Mariscal is on target with a cross.  
Montoya sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a cross followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Mariscal gets on the inside and cuts off the ring, trapping Montoya on the ropes.  Mariscal lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mariscal pivots to the side of his opponent.  Mariscal throws a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid left uppercut.  
Mariscal is on target with a cross.  
Montoya hits home with a spiteful jab.  
Montoya steps away from his opponent.  Montoya sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands with a ramrod jab.

Mariscal steps inside and lands a left hook.  
Mariscal tries to keep the action at long range.  Mariscal sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Montoya hits home with a cross.  
Mariscal is looking to close the distance.  Mariscal pivots to the side of his opponent and hits home with a left uppercut.  
Mariscal forces Montoya to retreat onto the ropes.  Montoya lands a sharp cross.  
Montoya steps to the outside and lands an overhand left followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Montoya is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Montoya sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a jab to Mariscal's body.
