Olindo Avena vs John Vetere

Boxing Daily Report from the Amateur Boxing Club Challenge,  taking place on 14/09/2024 from Philadelphia, USA:

The Philadelphia venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  


Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Olindo Avena (2 - 19) who hails from Tampa, USA and John Vetere(5 - 12) from Philadelphia, USA.  

Round 1: 

Avena hits home with a cross.  
Vetere voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Avena steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  Avena is on target with a stinging left hook to his opponents body.  
Avena hits home with a sharp cross.  
Avena is looking to close the distance.  Vetere lands a left hook, right hook and a left hook to his opponents head.  Vetere attempts to land a right hook, but Avena dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Vetere steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Vetere is on target with a stiff jab.  
Vetere is looking to keep the action on the outside and tries to land a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Vetere closes the distance.  Avena digs in a left hook to Vetere's ribs.  Avena throws a right hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Avena connects with a left hook.  
Vetere gets on the inside and lands a right uppercut to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a left hook to the head.

Vetere lands a jab followed by  two straights to his opponents head.  
Vetere steps away from his opponent and lands a cross.  
Avena connects with a firm cross.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Avena's trainer is telling his fighter to go out and knock out his opponent!  Vetere's trainer is advising his fighter to keep his distance and coast to the win.
