Fumio Konda vs Iwao Oki

Boxing Daily Report from the Japan National Finals 2025,  taking place on 29/03/2025 from Toyota, Japan:

The Toyota venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Light Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Fumio Konda (40 - 12) who hails from Higashiosaka, Japan and Iwao Oki(19 - 14) from Koshigaya, Japan.  

Round 1: 

Konda feints a cross, fooling Oki into throwing a right uppercut counter.  Konda springs the trap, countering with  a left hook.

Konda steps to the outside and drives a stinging jab into his opponents face.  
Oki walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Konda lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.

Konda voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Oki accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Konda.  
Oki pivots to the right of his opponent and digs in a left uppercut to his opponents liver.  
Konda steps to the outside and connects with an overhand right.  
Oki sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Konda lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Oki attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref stops the action and gives Konda time to recover.  
Konda steps to the outside.  Oki quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent, but Konda lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.

Oki feints a jab and triggers a right hook counter from Konda.  Oki springs the trap, countering with  a firm cross.
