Charlie Mason vs James Penry

Boxing Daily Report from the New Zealand National Finals 2025,  taking place on 14/04/2025 from Auckland, New Zealand:

The Auckland venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Light Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Charlie Mason (10(1) - 8) who hails from Hamilton, New Zealand and James Penry(10 - 19) from Hamilton, New Zealand.  

Round 1: 

Mason is on target with a firm right hook to his opponents body.  
Penry gets on the inside.  Mason is on target with a right hook.  
Mason tries to step out of his opponents range.  Penry lands a jab.  
Penry steps inside and walks his opponent down, trapping him in a corner.  Mason is on target with a firm left hook.  
Penry lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Penry gets on the inside and walks his opponent into the corner.  Mason tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Penry is on target with a left hook.  
Penry closes the distance and connects with a left hook.  
Mason lands a spiteful jab.  
Mason switches the action to the outside and tries to land a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging right hook.  
Mason lands a double jab to his opponents head.

Mason lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.

Penry steps inside and manouvers Mason onto the ropes.  Mason drives a sharp left hook into Penry's body.  
Penry sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Mason lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Mason is looking to keep his distance and lands a jab.  
Mason hits home with a cross.  
Mason steps to the outside and tries to land an overhand right, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Penry steps inside.  Mason lands a solid left uppercut.  
Mason hits home with a stinging left hook.  
Mason is looking to keep his distance.  Mason sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Penry closes the distance and lands a right hook to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Mason is on target with a solid right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Penry connects with a cross.  
Penry hits home with a cross.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Mason's trainer is telling his fighter he is winning comfortably and should get on his bike for the remainder of the fight.  Penry's trainer is telling his fighter to go out and knock out his opponent!

Penry forces Mason to back into the ropes.  Mason lands a solid left hook.  
Mason quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent, but Penry lands a jab.
