Matthew Sowah vs Kofi Muniru

Boxing Daily Report from the Ghana National Finals 2026,  taking place on 26/03/2026 from Takoradi, Ghana:

The Takoradi venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Light Heavyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Matthew Sowah (18 - 10) who hails from Kumasi, Ghana and Kofi Muniru(12 - 7) from Kumasi, Ghana.  

Round 1: 

Sowah pivots from in front of his opponent and drives a right hook into his opponents body.

Sowah steps inside and throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook to his opponents body.

Sowah advances into close range.  Muniru digs in a right hook to Sowah's body.  
Muniru attempts to land a right hook, but Sowah blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.

Sowah is looking to close the distance.  Muniru attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Sowah's complaints and signals for the action to continue.

Sowah leans back on the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Muniru steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  Muniru is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Sowah is looking to close the distance.  Muniru throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends Sowah to the neutral corner.  He warns Muniru that continued fouling will result in a point deduction.
