Jay Sanders vs Rera Horua

Boxing Daily Report from the New Zealand National Finals 2026,  taking place on 14/04/2026 from Wellington, New Zealand:

The Wellington venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Lightweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Jay Sanders (19(1) - 6) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and Rera Horua(11 - 4) from Hamilton, New Zealand.  

Round 1: 

Horua is on target with a firm left hook.  
Sanders is on target with a left hook.  
Sanders gets on the inside.  Sanders sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Horua is on target with a right hook.  
Sanders lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Sanders pivots to the right of his opponent and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Sanders pivots to the side of his opponent.  Horua tries to land a left hook, but Sanders blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Sanders lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Horua steps away from his opponent and attempts to land a jab, but Sanders sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Horua connects with a sharp cross.  
Sanders is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  Sanders tries to land a right uppercut, but Horua slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Sanders steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Sanders gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Horua steps away from his opponent and connects with an overhand right.  
Horua pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a cross.  
Sanders sidesteps to the left of his opponent and hits home with a left uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Sanders's trainer is telling his fighter he is winning comfortably and should get on his bike for the remainder of the fight.

Horua lands a spiteful jab.  Horua attempts to land a jab, but Sanders slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Horua lands a jab.  
Horua lowers his hands, trying to provoke his opponent to attack.  Sanders hits home with a left hook.  
Sanders backs onto the ropes...he is waving his opponent in!  Horua steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  Horua lands a right hook.  
Sanders switches the action to the outside and lands a sharp jab.  
Sanders finds the target with a jab.  
Sanders lands a jab to the head, a cross to the head and a jab to the body.  
Horua pivots to the side of his opponent and is on target with a solid left uppercut.
