Jair Cortes vs Sierra Sanz

Boxing Daily Report from the Nicaragua National Finals 2026,  taking place on 14/04/2026 from Managua, Nicaragua:

The Managua venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Light Flyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Jair Cortes (9 - 6) who hails from Leon, Nicaragua and Sierra Sanz(10 - 10) from Managua, Nicaragua.  

Round 1: 

Sanz manouvers Cortes into the corner.  Sanz lands a jab.  
Sanz throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Sanz lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Sanz is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Sanz gets on the inside.  Sanz pivots from in front of his opponent, but Cortes lands a right hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Sanz sidesteps to the right of his opponent and drives a left uppercut into Cortes's liver.  
Sanz hits home with a right hook.  
Sanz is looking to close the distance.  Sanz pivots to the right of his opponent and hits home with a left hook.  
Sanz connects with a left hook.  
Sanz steps inside.  Sanz pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left hook.  
Sanz manouvers his opponent into a corner.  Sanz hits home with a left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Sanz's trainer is telling his fighter he is a mile in front and not to do anything stupid.

Cortes lands an overhand left.  Cortes attempts to land a jab, but Sanz slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Sanz gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Sanz lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Sanz steps inside and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Cortes sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Sanz is on target with a jab to his opponents body.  
Sanz manouvers Cortes onto the ropes.  Sanz pivots from in front of his opponent, but  goes for the bodyshot, but lands south of the border!  The ref stops the action and gives Sanz time to recover.  
Sanz drives a stiff jab into his opponents face.  
Sanz steps inside.  Cortes connects with a left hook.  
Sanz is on target with a jab.
