Bashir Mahmoud vs Imran Afandiyev

Boxing Daily Report from the Azerbaijan National Finals 2027,  taking place on 14/03/2027 from Masally, Azerbaijan:

The Masally venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Featherweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Bashir Mahmoud (15 - 16) who hails from Baku, Azerbaijan and Imran Afandiyev(9 - 12) from Masally, Azerbaijan.  

Round 1: 

Mahmoud lands a straight 1 - 2.

Afandiyev is looking to close the distance.  Afandiyev quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Mahmoud throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action and gives Afandiyev time to recover.  
Afandiyev pivots to the side of his opponent.  Mahmoud is on target with a right hook.  Mahmoud attempts to land a right uppercut, but Afandiyev parries the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Mahmoud switches the action to the outside and is on target with a stinging jab.  
Afandiyev sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Mahmoud lands a left hook.  
Afandiyev steps back and leans on the ropes with his guard up.  Mahmoud accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Afandiyev.  Mahmoud is on target with a right hook.  
Afandiyev gets on the inside and lands a right uppercut.  
Mahmoud quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Mahmoud throws a cross, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Mahmoud pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a left uppercut.  
Afandiyev closes the distance.  Mahmoud drives a right uppercut into his opponents body.  
Mahmoud hits home with an overhand left.  
Afandiyev is looking to close the distance.  Afandiyev throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Mahmoud's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Mahmoud pivots to the side of his opponent.  Mahmoud connects with a cross.  Mahmoud attempts to land a cross, but Afandiyev dodges the shot and counters with a cross.  
Mahmoud is looking to keep the action on the outside and connects with a cross.  
Mahmoud connects with a right hook.  
Mahmoud lands an overhand left.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mahmoud's trainer is telling his fighter he is a mile in front and not to do anything stupid.
