Dave Shumba vs Mark Mpofu

Boxing Daily Report from the Zimbabwe National Finals 2027,  taking place on 26/04/2027 from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe:

The Bulawayo venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Lightweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Dave Shumba (10 - 12) who hails from Harare, Zimbabwe and Mark Mpofu(2 - 6) from Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe.  

Round 1: 

Shumba digs in a left hook to Mpofu's liver.  
Mpofu lands a right uppercut.  
Shumba throws a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Mpofu forces Shumba to back into the ropes.  Mpofu sidesteps to the right of his opponent and connects with a firm cross.  
Mpofu strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Shumba closes the distance and connects with a right hook.  
Mpofu hits home with a left hook.  
Shumba lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Mpofu sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands with a solid jab.

Shumba is looking to close the distance.  Shumba pivots from in front of his opponent, but Mpofu is on target with a right uppercut.  
Mpofu lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.

Shumba gets on the inside and lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Shumba throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Mpofu's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Mpofu is on target with a jab.

Shumba lands a cross.  
Shumba sidesteps to the left of his opponent and hits home with a right hook.
