Boxing Daily Report from the Kenya National Finals 2028,  taking place on 26/03/2028 from Kisumu, Kenya:

The Kisumu venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Corey Ngilu (1 - 0) who hails from Mombasa, Kenya and Theo Chepkemei(12 - 9) from Ruiru, Kenya.

Chepkemei gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.

Ngilu steps to the outside and lands a cross to the body, and then to the head.  
Chepkemei gets on the inside.  Ngilu throws a right hook, but Chepkemei ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Chepkemei pushes his forearm into Ngilu's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Chepkemei about fouling.  
Ngilu is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Chepkemei throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
Chepkemei lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Chepkemei pivots to the right of his opponent.  Ngilu drives a right uppercut into Chepkemei's body.  Ngilu attempts to land a right hook, but Chepkemei sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.

Chepkemei manouvers his opponent into a corner.  Chepkemei digs in a sharp left uppercut to Ngilu's ribs.  Chepkemei ties up his opponent.  Chepkemei tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Ngilu behind the head. Chepkemei throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Chepkemei lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head.  
Ngilu throws a left hook, but Chepkemei holds on to his opponent.  Chepkemei uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Ngilu behind the head. The ref separates the two fighters.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Ngilu's trainer is telling his fighter he must go to war on his opponent!

Chepkemei gets on the inside.  Ngilu throws a left hook, but Chepkemei ties up his opponent.  Chepkemei leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Chepkemei gets on the inside and lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Chepkemei manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Chepkemei quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and is on target with a left uppercut.  
Chepkemei hits home with a solid left hook.  
Chepkemei lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Chepkemei manages to force Ngilu onto the ropes.  Chepkemei lands a right uppercut to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a cross to the head.
