Rodrigo Vallez vs Santiago Cal

Boxing Daily Report from the Costa Rica National Finals 2029,  taking place on 11/03/2029 from San Jose, Costa Rica:

The San Jose venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Heavyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Rodrigo Vallez (11 - 22) who hails from San Jose, Costa Rica and Santiago Cal(14 - 14) from San Jose, Costa Rica.  

Round 1: 

Vallez steps away from his opponent.  Cal strikes his opponents body with a jab.

Cal is looking to close the distance and manages to force Vallez onto the ropes.  Cal pivots from in front of his opponent.  Cal throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
Cal sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Vallez is on target with a left hook.  
Cal pivots to the left of his opponent and hits the target with a spiteful jab.  
Cal attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Vallez's complaints and signals for the action to continue.

Cal closes the distance.  Cal pivots to the side of his opponent, but Vallez lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Vallez tries to step out of his opponents range.  Cal finds the target with a jab.  
Cal throws a jab, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a firm right uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Vallez's trainer is telling his fighter he is winning comfortably and should get on his bike for the remainder of the fight.

Vallez is looking to keep his distance.  Cal attempts to land a cross, but Vallez dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Cal tries to land an overhand left, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a firm right hook.

Cal steps inside and manouvers Vallez into a corner.  Cal hits home with a right uppercut.  Vallez clinches his opponent.  Vallez leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Cal quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent, but Vallez lands a left uppercut to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.
