Boxing Daily Report from the Malaysia National Finals 2031,  taking place on 11/04/2031 from Shah Alam, Malaysia:

The Shah Alam venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Matt Gene (7 - 9) who hails from Kuching, Malaysia and Michael Wat(17 - 14(1)) from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.  

Round 1: 

Wat is looking to close the distance and lands a right hook followed by  two left hooks to his opponents head.  
Wat lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Gene steps to the outside.  Wat connects with an overhand right.  
Wat lands a firm cross.  
Wat advances into close range and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.

Wat throws a right hook, but misses the target.  Wat clinches his opponent.  Wat pushes his forearm into Gene's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Wat to stop fouling.  
Wat sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Wat closes the distance and lands two left hook's to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Wat closes the distance and is on target with a left hook.  
Gene lands a stinging right hook.  
Wat lands with a hard jab.  
Gene steps to the outside.  Wat throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a stinging cross.  
Wat manouvers Gene into a neutral corner.  Gene throws a left hook, but Wat ties up his opponent.  Wat tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Gene's kidney. As they grapple, Wat pushes his forearm into Gene's face.  The referee warns Wat and breaks the clinch.  
Wat closes the distance and drives a left hook into Gene's body.  
Gene steps away from his opponent.  Wat lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Gene drops his hands, and waves his opponent in.  Wat hits home with a cross.  
Wat steps inside and connects with a left hook.  
Wat is looking to close the distance and throws a right hook, but his opponent steps away from the shot.  Wat clinches his opponent.  Wat leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Wat lands a stinging right uppercut.  
Wat closes the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.
