Boxing Daily Report from the New Zealand National Finals 2031,  taking place on 11/04/2031 from Manukau, New Zealand:

The Manukau venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Light Heavyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Ian Carruth (10 - 12) who hails from Manukau, New Zealand and Jack Wathen(18 - 4) from Wellington, New Zealand.

Wathen drives a left hook into Carruth's body.  
Wathen walks his opponent down, trapping him in a neutral corner.  Wathen connects with a right uppercut.  Wathen holds on to his opponent.  Wathen is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Wathen lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Carruth is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.

Wathen gets on the inside and walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Wathen throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Wathen clinches his opponent.  Wathen leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Wathen gets on the inside.  Wathen pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Carruth's trainer is telling his fighter to go out and knock out his opponent!

Wathen gets on the inside and lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head, AND SENDS CARRUTH TO THE CANVAS!  He unsteadily tries to get up but is unable to beat the 10 count!  The winner by KO is Wathen!
