Andy Johnston vs Edward MacLaine

Boxing Daily Report from the USA National Finals 2031,  taking place on 29/04/2031 from Davenport, USA:

The Davenport venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Light Flyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Andy Johnston (16 - 4) who hails from Oklahoma City, USA and Edward MacLaine(21(7) - 4) from Tulsa, USA.  

Round 1: 

Johnston lands with a hard jab.  Johnston attempts to land a jab, but MacLaine sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
MacLaine drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
MacLaine walks Johnston down, trapping him on the ropes.  MacLaine lands a left uppercut to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the head.  MacLaine attempts to land a left hook, but Johnston blocks the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
Johnston is looking to keep his distance.  MacLaine lands a firm overhand left.  MacLaine throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a firm cross.

Johnston steps to the outside and throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook to Johnston's ribs.

MacLaine steps inside.  Johnston throws a right hook, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  MacLaine ties up his opponent.  MacLaine is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks MacLaine's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Johnston switches the action to the outside.  Johnston quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent, but MacLaine is on target with a jab.  
MacLaine lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a left uppercut to the body.  
MacLaine lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
MacLaine closes the distance and lands a right uppercut followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body.  
Johnston throws a left hook, but MacLaine ties up his opponent.  MacLaine is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks MacLaine's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Johnston feints a cross, and then lands a jab to the body followed by a overhand left to the head.  
MacLaine advances into close range and walks Johnston down, trapping him on the ropes.  MacLaine pivots to the side of his opponent and drives a stinging right hook into Johnston's ribs.  
MacLaine pivots to the side of his opponent and digs in a firm right hook to Johnston's body.  
MacLaine closes the distance and is on target with a solid right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
MacLaine is on target with a left hook.  
MacLaine lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.

Johnston goes for the bodyshot, but lands south of the border!  The ref stops the action and gives MacLaine time to recover.  
MacLaine lands a straight 1 - 2.  
MacLaine connects with a stinging cross.  
MacLaine steps inside.  Johnston tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
MacLaine closes the distance and drives a sharp right hook into Johnston's body.  
MacLaine cuts off the ring, trapping Johnston on the ropes.  MacLaine lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  MacLaine clinches his opponent.  MacLaine pushes his forearm into Johnston's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns MacLaine to stop fouling.  
MacLaine lands a right hook, left hook and a right hook to his opponents body.  
MacLaine attempts to land a right hook, but Johnston slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
MacLaine is looking to close the distance.  Johnston lands a left hook.

MacLaine gets on the inside.  Johnston connects with a left hook.  
MacLaine digs in a left uppercut to his opponents body.  MacLaine ties up his opponent.  Johnston pushes his forearm into MacLaine's face.  The referee warns Johnston and breaks the clinch.  
MacLaine lands a right uppercut to the body, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the body, DROPPING JOHNSTON TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 7.  MacLaine ties up his opponent.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  Johnston almost instantly recovers. 
MacLaine drives a telling left hook into his opponents body.  JOHNSTON IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  HE FAILS TO BEAT THE COUNT!  The winner by KO is MacLaine!
