Geoff Mapfumo vs Steven Chatara

Boxing Daily Report from the Zimbabwe National Finals 2031,  taking place on 02/05/2031 from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe:

The Bulawayo venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have the Final of the Light Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Geoff Mapfumo (22 - 17) who hails from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and Steven Chatara(19 - 11) from Harare, Zimbabwe.  

Round 1: 

Chatara advances into close range.  Mapfumo lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Chatara lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Mapfumo tries to step out of his opponents range and attempts to land a jab, but Chatara parries the shot and counters with a cross.

Chatara closes the distance and digs in a left uppercut to Mapfumo's body.  
Chatara throws an overhand right, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Chatara gets on the inside and walks Mapfumo down, trapping him on the ropes.  Mapfumo lands a firm left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mapfumo's trainer is telling his fighter he is winning comfortably and should get on his bike for the remainder of the fight.
