The Auckland venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Heavyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Bryn Bird (22 - 14) who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and Paul Birney(1 - 1) from Auckland, New Zealand.

Bird sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Birney tries to land a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Bird pivots to the side of his opponent and whips in a hurtful left hook to Birney's ribs.  IT LOOKS LIKE BIRNEY WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Birney recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Bird is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents liver.  Bird holds on to his opponent.  Bird leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Bird is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Bird's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Bird advances into close range and connects with a sharp right uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Bird's trainer is advising his fighter to keep his distance and coast to the win.
