Andy Saul vs Richard Shortt

Boxing Daily Report from the Amateur Boxing Club Challenge,  taking place on 06/08/2035 from Minneapolis, USA:

The Minneapolis venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  


Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Andy Saul (26 - 11) who hails from Saint Paul, USA and Richard Shortt(1 - 3) from Waterbury, USA.  

Round 1: 

Saul is on target with a stinging cross.  
Saul steps inside and drives a right hook into Shortt's ribcage.  
Shortt connects with a cross.  
Saul is looking to keep his distance and finds the target with a stinging jab.  
Shortt advances into close range.  Shortt pivots from in front of his opponent, but Saul is on target with a left uppercut.

Saul tries to step out of his opponents range.  Shortt tries to land a jab, but Saul dodges the shot and counters with a solid right hook.

Shortt quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Saul lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  Saul clinches his opponent.  Saul pushes his forearm into Shortt's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Saul about fouling.

Saul steps to the outside.  Shortt throws a cross, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left uppercut.

Shortt throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Saul lands a jab.  
Shortt closes the distance.  Saul throws a right uppercut, but his opponent avoids the punch.  Saul ties up his opponent.  Saul is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Saul digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Shortt is on target with a left hook.  
Saul switches the action to the outside.  Shortt is on target with a cross.  Shortt throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.

Shortt manouvers Saul into the corner.  Saul lands with a solid jab.  
Shortt advances into close range.  Saul connects with a weighty right hook.  SHORTT WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Saul holds on to his opponent.  Shortt leans on his opponent using all his weight. Shortt uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Saul behind the head. The ref separates the two fighters.  Shortt recovers before his opponent can take advantage.

Shortt tries to land a cross, but Saul blocks the shot and counters with a firm cross.  
Saul digs in a potent left hook to his opponents ribs.  SHORTT IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.
