Macario Gascon vs Montana Montes

Boxing Daily Report from the Ecuador National Finals 2020,  taking place on 11/03/2020 from Guayaquil, Ecuador:

The Guayaquil venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Heavyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Macario Gascon (1 - 11) who hails from Quito, Ecuador and Montana Montes(10(2) - 2) from Quito, Ecuador.  

Round 1: 

Montes tries to land a jab, but Gascon sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut to his opponents liver.  
Gascon switches the action to the outside.  Montes lands a cross followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Montes throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Gascon steps to the outside.  Montes snaps his opponents head back with a sharp jab.  
Montes closes the distance and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Montes manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Montes pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a right hook, left hook and a right hook to his opponents head.  
Gascon lands a left hook.  
Montes lands a cross.  
Montes closes the distance.  Montes sidesteps to the left of his opponent and drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Montes sidesteps to the left of his opponent and connects with a right hook.  
Montes lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.

Montes closes the distance.  Gascon tries to land a right hook, but Montes slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Montes steps inside.  Montes retreats back to the ropes, and waits for his opponent to attack.  Gascon accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Montes.  Gascon is on target with a sharp right hook to Montes's body.  
Montes steps inside and connects with a right uppercut.  
Gascon pivots to the side of his opponent, but Montes hits home with a cross.  
Montes advances into close range and is on target with a left hook to his opponents liver.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Gascon's trainer is telling his fighter to go out and knock out his opponent!  Montes's trainer is telling his fighter to play it safe for the remainder of the fight.
