Arran Mau vs Ian Aikins

Boxing Daily Report from the New Zealand National Finals 2020,  taking place on 11/04/2020 from Christchurch, New Zealand:

The Christchurch venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Flyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Arran Mau (5 - 8) who hails from Waitakere, New Zealand and Ian Aikins(8 - 4) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  

Round 1: 

Aikins steps inside.  Mau digs in a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Aikins gets on the inside and forces Mau to back into the corner.  Aikins lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Mau steps to the outside.  Mau quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and finds the target with a stiff jab.

Aikins steps inside and attempts to land a left hook, but Mau blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.

Mau connects with a left uppercut.  
Mau is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Aikins attempts to land a cross, but Mau dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Aikins closes the distance and lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.

Aikins quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent, but Mau lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Mau finds the target with a stiff jab.  
Aikins is looking to close the distance.  Mau lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Aikins pivots to the left of his opponent and drives a left hook into his opponents liver.  
Mau hits home with a sharp jab.  
Mau feints a cross and triggers a right uppercut counter from Aikins.  Mau is waiting for the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Aikins is looking to close the distance and drives a right uppercut into his opponents ribs.  
Aikins attempts to land a right hook, but Mau dodges the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Aikins quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Aikins throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action and gives Mau time to recover.
