Carlos Platero vs Yoshi Shimomura

Boxing Daily Report from the Amateur Boxing Club Challenge,  taking place on 23/05/2040 from Ponce, Puerto Rico:

The Ponce venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  


Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Carlos Platero (37 - 5) who hails from Ponce, Puerto Rico and Yoshi Shimomura(1 - 3) from Sendai, Japan.  

Round 1: 

Platero lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Platero lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Shimomura digs in a right hook to his opponents body.  
Shimomura forces Platero to back into the ropes.  Shimomura digs in a right hook to his opponents body.  
Shimomura gets on the inside.  Platero leans back on the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Shimomura steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  Shimomura is on target with a right uppercut to his opponents ribcage.  
Shimomura is looking to close the distance.  Shimomura attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Platero's complaints and signals for the action to continue.

Shimomura closes the distance.  Platero is on target with a solid left uppercut to Shimomura's liver.  
Shimomura advances into close range.  Platero lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  He then lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Platero ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Shimomura pushes his forearm into Platero's face.  The ref breaks Platero's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Shimomura closes the distance.  Shimomura sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Platero drives a solid left hook into his opponents body.

Shimomura digs in a left hook to Platero's body.  
Platero lands a jab to the head followed by a cross to the body.  
Shimomura sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Platero finds the target with a jab.  Platero throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.

Shimomura quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Platero tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
Shimomura is looking to close the distance and throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Platero holds on to his opponent.  Platero throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Platero.
