Jose Mesa vs Vicente Veloz

Boxing Daily Report from the Americas Boxing Championships 2042,  taking place on 09/01/2042 from Puebla, Mexico:

The Puebla venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Round of 16 fight in the Middleweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Jose Mesa (43(2) - 25(1)) who hails from Barcelona, Venezuela and Vicente Veloz(21 - 20(4)) from Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Round 2: 

Mesa gets on the inside.  Mesa sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Veloz lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Mesa is on target with a sharp left hook to his opponents body.  
Mesa attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends Veloz to the neutral corner.  He tells Mesa he will lose a point if he continues to foul.  
Veloz sidesteps to the left of his opponent, but Mesa hits the target with a ramrod jab.  
Mesa gets on the inside and lands a left hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the body.  
Veloz throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Veloz finds the target with a jab.  
Mesa lands a spiteful jab.  
Veloz connects with a firm left hook.  
Veloz lands a left hook to the body followed by a cross to the head.  
Mesa steps inside and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
Some sustained pressure from Mesa could be enough to finish Veloz!  Mesa crashes a nasty right uppercut to his opponents body.  VELOZ IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  Veloz now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Mesa pivots to the side of his opponent and connects with a cross.  
Mesa gets on the inside and is on target with a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mesa sidesteps to the left of his opponent and drives a right uppercut into Veloz's body.  
Mesa lands a jab to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Mesa attempts to land a jab, but Veloz sidesteps and counters with a left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Mesa lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Mesa is looking to close the distance and is on target with a firm right uppercut to Veloz's body.  
Veloz lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  He then lands a left hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a right uppercut to the head.  
Veloz hits the target with a spiteful jab.  
Mesa lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.

Veloz is on target with a right hook to Mesa's body.  
Mesa digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Mesa cuts off the ring, trapping Veloz on the ropes.  Mesa pivots to the side of his opponent and drives a right hook into his opponents body.  
Mesa lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a right uppercut to the body.  Mesa tries to land a left hook, but Veloz blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Mesa drives a right hook into Veloz's body.  
Veloz tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a jab.

Veloz attempts to land a right hook, but Mesa dodges the shot and counters with a sharp left hook to his opponents body.  VELOZ IS HURT!  
Mesa knows Veloz is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  Mesa lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  It looks like Veloz has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Mesa pivots to the left of his opponent and drives a stinging right uppercut into his opponents ribs.  
Veloz lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Mesa lands a left uppercut, right uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!
