Corey Pennie vs Rob Gordon

Boxing Daily Report from the New Zealand National Finals 2042,  taking place on 17/04/2042 from Christchurch, New Zealand:

The Christchurch venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have the Final of the Flyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Corey Pennie (39(6) - 11) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and Rob Gordon(32(2) - 13) from Auckland, New Zealand.  

Round 1: 

Gordon gets on the inside.  Gordon pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Gordon cuts off the ring, trapping Pennie on the ropes.  Gordon quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent, but Pennie lands a left uppercut followed by  two left hooks to his opponents head.  
Pennie is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Gordon strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Pennie steps to the outside and lands an overhand left, cross and an overhand left to his opponents head.  
Gordon gets on the inside.  Gordon pivots from in front of his opponent.  Gordon is on target with a sharp right hook to his opponents body.  Gordon throws a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook to Gordon's ribcage.  
Pennie is looking to keep his distance.  Pennie feints a left hook, but Gordon ignores the feint and lands with a cross.  
Gordon is looking to close the distance.  Pennie lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Gordon hits the target with a spiteful jab.  
Gordon closes the distance and connects with a right hook.  
Pennie is on target with a solid left hook to his opponents liver.  
Pennie lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Gordon pivots to the side of his opponent and is on target with a left hook.  
Gordon lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Gordon throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a firm right uppercut to Gordon's ribcage.  
Gordon is looking to close the distance.  Gordon pivots to the right of his opponent.  Pennie tries to land a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Pennie feints a jab, tricking Gordon into launching a right uppercut counter.  Pennie avoids the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Pennie is on target with a jab.  
Gordon steps inside.  Gordon pivots to the side of his opponent, but Pennie digs in a right uppercut to Gordon's body.  
Gordon lands a firm left hook.  
Pennie steps to the outside.  Pennie quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Pennie finds the target with a jab.  Pennie tries to land an overhand right, but Gordon sidesteps and counters with a solid cross.  
Pennie tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a spiteful jab.  Pennie throws a cross, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Gordon steps inside and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  Gordon throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a sharp left hook to Gordon's liver.  
Pennie lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Gordon lands a double jab to his opponents head.

Pennie is looking to keep his distance and lands with a hard jab.  
Gordon attempts to land an overhand right, but Pennie blocks the shot and counters with a stinging left uppercut.  
Pennie hits home with a firm cross.  
Pennie steps away from his opponent.  Gordon is on target with a firm cross.  Gordon attempts to land a jab, but Pennie slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut to his opponents liver.  
Gordon pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left hook.

Pennie contemptuously drops his hands, trying to provoke his opponent.  Gordon drives a hard jab into his opponents face.  
Pennie lands a jab, right hook and a cross to his opponents head.  
Gordon is looking to close the distance.  Pennie lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Pennie switches the action to the outside.  The right shot from Pennie could be enough to force the stoppage!  Pennie lands a right hook to the head, a cross to the head and a right uppercut to the body, AND KNOCKS GORDON DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 8.  
It looks like Gordon has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Pennie's trainer is telling his fighter to play it safe for the remainder of the fight.
