Ben Mellish vs John Hidalgo

Boxing Daily Report from the Amateur Boxing Club Challenge,  taking place on 16/12/2042 from Los Angeles, USA:

The Los Angeles venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  


Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Ben Mellish (58 - 6) who hails from Riverside, USA and John Hidalgo(0 - 1) from El Paso, USA.  

Round 1: 

Mellish pivots to the right of his opponent.  Hidalgo throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a sharp left hook.  
Mellish manouvers Hidalgo into the corner.  Mellish is on target with a solid right uppercut.  
Mellish drives a right hook into Hidalgo's body.  
Mellish drives a left hook into Hidalgo's body.  
Mellish pivots to the left of his opponent and hits home with a right hook.  
Mellish quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Mellish lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  Mellish ties up his opponent.  Mellish leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Hidalgo tries to land a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Hidalgo pivots to the right of his opponent.  Hidalgo tries to land a jab, but Mellish sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Mellish lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Mellish closes the distance and lands two consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents head.  
Mellish gets on the inside.  Mellish pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
Mellish pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Hidalgo tries to keep the action at long range.  Mellish lands a stinging jab.

Hidalgo throws a left uppercut, but Mellish holds on to his opponent.  Hidalgo pushes his forearm into Mellish's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Hidalgo to stop fouling.  
Hidalgo throws a right hook, but Mellish ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Mellish pushes his forearm into Hidalgo's face.  The ref breaks Mellish's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Mellish quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a left uppercut.  
Mellish cuts off the ring, trapping Hidalgo on the ropes.  Mellish pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mellish's trainer is telling his fighter he is a mile in front and not to do anything stupid.

Mellish forces Hidalgo to retreat onto the ropes.  Mellish feints a jab, tricking Hidalgo into countering with a right uppercut.  Mellish is waiting for the shot and counters with a cross.  
Hidalgo finds the target with a jab.
