Brin Cay vs Michael Merrick

Boxing Daily Report from the Jamaica National Finals 2043,  taking place on 29/03/2043 from New Kingston, Jamaica:

The New Kingston venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Light Heavyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Brin Cay (17 - 21) who hails from Portmore, Jamaica and Michael Merrick(17 - 7) from Portmore, Jamaica.  

Round 1: 

Cay attempts to land a right uppercut, but Merrick dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Merrick lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  He then lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  Merrick attempts to land a left hook, but Cay blocks the shot and counters with a sharp left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Cay tries to keep the action at long range and lands three consecutive overhand rights to his opponents head.  
Cay lands a straight 1 - 2.  Cay throws a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a sharp right uppercut.

Merrick forces Cay to back into the ropes.  Merrick quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Merrick throws a right hook, but his opponent steps away from the punch.  Merrick holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Cay pushes his forearm into Merrick's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Cay.  
Cay lands a cross to the body followed by a jab to the head.  
Merrick gets on the inside.  Merrick pivots to the side of his opponent, but Cay hits home with a firm right uppercut.  
Cay hits home with a left hook.  Merrick ties up his opponent.  Merrick leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Merrick lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Cay connects with a firm right uppercut.  
Merrick lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Merrick clinches his opponent.  Cay leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Cay hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Cay about fouling.
