Gerard Virenque vs Roger Baes

Boxing Daily Report from the Belgium National Finals 2021,  taking place on 14/03/2021 from Brussels, Belgium:

The Brussels venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Middleweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Gerard Virenque (14 - 4) who hails from Schaerbeek, Belgium and Roger Baes(12 - 6) from Antwerp, Belgium.  

Round 1: 

Baes pivots from in front of his opponent, but Virenque lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Virenque gets on the inside.  Virenque sidesteps to the right of his opponent and digs in a right hook to Baes's body.  
Virenque steps away from his opponent and lands three consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Virenque steps inside and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Baes is looking to keep his distance.  Baes feints a jab, tricking Virenque into throwing a left uppercut counter.  Baes springs the trap and counters with  a cross.  
Virenque gets on the inside.  Virenque sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Baes lands a left uppercut.  
Virenque tries to keep the action at long range and connects with an overhand right.  
Baes finds the target with a jab.  Baes attempts to land a jab, but Virenque blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Virenque advances into close range.  Virenque voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Baes tries to tag Virenque on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  
Baes tries to keep the action at long range and throws a cross, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Baes hits home with a left uppercut.  
Virenque is on target with a stinging right uppercut.  
Virenque is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Baes throws an overhand left, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.
