Blake Malcom vs Gus Mateer

Boxing Daily Report from the Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions promoted show at Frank Gym, Manchester,  taking place on 08/08/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Blake Malcom (2 - 0) who hails from Townsville, Australia and Gus Mateer(4 - 0 - 1) from Leicester, UK.  Both Malcom and Mateer weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Aftab Bilal, and the three ringside judges are Cody Biggs, Robert Llewellyn and Bart McPhee.  

Round 1: 

Malcom steps inside and is on target with a right uppercut.  
Malcom gets on the inside and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Malcom lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Malcom advances into close range and throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the punch.  Malcom ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Mateer pushes his forearm into Malcom's face.  The ref breaks Malcom's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Mateer tries to keep the action at long range.  Malcom lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.

Malcom gets on the inside and is on target with a sharp right uppercut.  
Malcom is on target with a left hook.  
Mateer connects with a right hook.  
Malcom advances into close range and hits home with a left hook.  
Malcom quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Malcom throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Malcom walks his opponent into the red corner.  Malcom lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Malcom lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Malcom closes the distance and lands a left hook.
