Rico Mijares vs Diego Moralez

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Ecuador-Guayas promoted show at Jax Bolivar Gym, Guayaquil,  taking place on 18/07/2025:

Clearly AI Ecuador-Guayas have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Ecuador-Guayas Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Rico Mijares (2 - 8) who hails from Duran, Ecuador and Diego Moralez(4 - 6 - 5) from Guayaquil, Ecuador.  Mijares weighed in at 239 pounds and 3 ounces, while Moralez weighed in at 243 pounds and 8 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Santiago Ferro, and the three ringside judges are Rio Garcia, Venacio Riquelme and Juan Corzo.  

Round 1: 

Moralez hits home with a right hook.  Moralez goes for the bodyshot, but lands south of the border!  The ref stops the action and gives Mijares time to recover.  
Mijares pivots to the right of his opponent.  Moralez is on target with a left uppercut.  Moralez attempts to land a right hook, but Mijares blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Mijares tries to step out of his opponents range and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Moralez quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and connects with a cross.
