Emilio Raisi vs Matt Prior

Boxing Daily Report from the JSW promoted show at Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Newcastle,  taking place on 16/08/2025:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SBS1, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Emilio Raisi (6 - 0) who hails from Melbourne, Australia and Matt Prior(3 - 2) from Melbourne, Australia.  Raisi weighed in at 147 pounds, while Prior weighed in at 146 pounds and 9 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Chris Sneden, and the three ringside judges are Colin McKay, Lewis Mescall and Robert Callis.  

Round 1: 

Raisi lands a right uppercut.  
Raisi is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.

Raisi steps inside and is on target with a right hook to Prior's ribs.  Raisi clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Raisi pushes his forearm into Prior's face.  The referee warns Raisi and breaks the clinch.  
Prior switches the action to the outside.  Raisi feints a jab, and then hits home with a cross.  
Raisi advances into close range and lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Raisi steps inside and digs in a right hook to Prior's body.  Raisi attempts to land a right hook, but Prior dodges the shot and counters with a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Raisi lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Raisi steps inside and manages to force Prior into a corner.  Raisi lands a left uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Prior's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Prior's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Prior's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
