Angel Lares vs Sagaz Barreto

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Mexico-Distrito Federal promoted show at Mexico City Tafoya, Mexico City,  taking place on 26/08/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Mexico-Distrito Federal Minimumweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TVC Deportes, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Angel Lares (5 - 3) who hails from Mexico City, Mexico and Sagaz Barreto(2 - 2 - 3) from Mexico City, Mexico.  Lares weighed in at 105 pounds, while Barreto weighed in at 104 pounds and 7 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Alejandro Vasquez, and the three ringside judges are Joaquin Villasenor, Jose Santander and Jesus Fermin.  

Round 1: 

Lares lands a left uppercut.

Barreto lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Barreto forces Lares to retreat into the corner.  Lares attempts to land a left hook, but Barreto blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Lares is on target with a right hook.  As Barreto tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Lares dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Barreto sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Lares throws a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.
