James Atkins vs Lucas MacNevin

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Australia-Queensland promoted show at Cairns Storer, Cairns,  taking place on 14/08/2025:

Clearly AI Australia-Queensland have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Australia-Queensland Super Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are James Atkins (3 - 10 - 1) who hails from Brisbane, Australia and Lucas MacNevin(10 - 5) from Brisbane, Australia.  Both Atkins and MacNevin weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Charlie Cacciari, and the three ringside judges are Stuart Gowan, Barry Forbes and Dave Evan.  

Round 1: 

MacNevin feints a right hook, and then connects with a right uppercut.  
MacNevin steps to the outside.  Atkins tries to land a cross, but MacNevin sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Atkins gets on the inside.  MacNevin hits home with a right uppercut.  MacNevin throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
MacNevin sidesteps to the left of his opponent and hits home with a cross.  
Atkins lands a right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Atkins's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Atkins's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  MacNevin's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.

MacNevin quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  MacNevin throws a cross, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Atkins sidesteps to the left of his opponent and connects with a right hook.
