Michael Kathrada vs Wayne Kiyimi

Boxing Daily Report from the African Fusion promoted show at gelvandale sports ground, Port Elizabeth,  taking place on 17/10/2025:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the South Africa Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SABC1, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Michael Kathrada (10 - 8 - 1) who hails from Port Elizabeth, South Africa and Wayne Kiyimi(4 - 12 - 1) from Mitchells Plain, South Africa.  Both Kathrada and Kiyimi weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Musa Majola, and the three ringside judges are Borg Cronje, Themba Cele and Deion Nsoh.  

Round 1: 

Kathrada switches the action to the outside and hits home with a cross.  
Kiyimi closes the distance.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Kiyimi dabs at his face checking for damage.  Kiyimi has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
