Fresco Rubio vs Santiago Barquero

Boxing Daily Report from the Rourke & Salvador promoted show at Ocean Club Py, Asuncion,  taking place on 27/10/2025:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Fresco Rubio (3 - 0) who hails from Ciudad del Este, Paraguay and Santiago Barquero(0 - 3 - 1) from Asuncion, Paraguay.  Rubio weighed in at 146 pounds and 15 ounces, while Barquero weighed in at 146 pounds and 1 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Juan Lainez, and the three ringside judges are Ivan Chino, Loredo Galban and Bronco Albino.  

Round 1: 

Barquero closes the distance.  Barquero pivots to the right of his opponent.  Barquero throws a right hook, but Rubio holds on to his opponent.  Barquero leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. As they grapple, Rubio pushes his forearm into Barquero's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Rubio.  
Barquero advances into close range and walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Rubio hits home with a right hook.  
Rubio tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a solid cross.  
Barquero sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Rubio is on target with a sharp overhand left.  
Barquero feints a right, and then throws an overhand left, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut to Barquero's body.  
Rubio quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands three consecutive overhand lefts to his opponents head.  
Barquero advances into close range.  Rubio pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook.  
Rubio throws a right uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Barquero voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Rubio is whaling away with hooks, but Barquero keeps his defence tight.  Rubio lands a right hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.

Barquero gets on the inside.  Rubio sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Rubio throws a left hook, but the shot is blocked.  Rubio clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Rubio pushes his forearm into Barquero's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Rubio about fouling.  
Rubio pivots to the left of his opponent and drives a left hook into Barquero's body.  
Rubio connects with a right hook.  
Barquero steps inside.  Rubio quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands two left hooks followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Rubio lands two consecutive overhand lefts to his opponents head.  
Rubio hits home with a cross.  
Rubio lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Rubio steps away from his opponent and hits home with a cross.
