Aleksandr Kolanko vs Diego Baldonado

Boxing Daily Report from the Bones Promotions promoted show at Bizkaia Arena, Bilbao,  taking place on 10/01/2026:

Clearly Bones Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the European Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Aleksandr Kolanko (14(4) - 4(1)) who hails from Vitebsk, Belarus and Diego Baldonado(13 - 3(1) - 1) from Madrid, Spain.  Kolanko weighed in at 135 pounds, while Baldonado weighed in at 134 pounds and 11 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Porfio Salas, and the three ringside judges are Ramiro Cala, Carlos Checo and Iago Leandro.  

Round 1: 

Kolanko sidesteps to the left of his opponent and is on target with a stinging left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Baldonado lands a right hook.  Baldonado tries to land a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Kolanko switches the action to the outside and is on target with a firm overhand left.  
Baldonado lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Kolanko hits the target with a stiff jab.  
Baldonado attempts to land a cross, but Kolanko slips the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
Kolanko steps away from his opponent.  Baldonado connects with an overhand right.  
Baldonado hits the target with a hard jab.  
Baldonado advances into close range and drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Baldonado is on target with a right hook.  
Baldonado manages to force Kolanko onto the ropes.  Baldonado throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a firm cross.  
Baldonado pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Kolanko attempts to land a jab, but Baldonado slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Baldonado finds the target with a stinging jab.  
Kolanko tries to step out of his opponents range.  Baldonado tries to land an overhand left, but Kolanko dodges the shot and counters with a sharp cross.  
Baldonado steps inside and is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Baldonado closes the distance.  Kolanko drives a solid left uppercut into Baldonado's ribs.  
Baldonado lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Baldonado digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  
Kolanko tries to keep the action at long range.  Baldonado attempts to land a jab, but Kolanko slips the shot and counters with a firm right uppercut.  
Baldonado advances into close range.  Kolanko connects with a stinging right uppercut.  
Baldonado forces Kolanko to back into the ropes.  Baldonado lands a right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Kolanko's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.

Baldonado gets on the inside and digs in a right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Baldonado drives a left uppercut into his opponents ribs.  Baldonado wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Kolanko dabs at his face checking for damage.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Kolanko.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
Baldonado drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Baldonado gets on the inside and is on target with a left hook.  
Kolanko steps to the outside.  Baldonado sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Kolanko lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Kolanko switches the action to the outside.  Baldonado sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Baldonado attempts to land an overhand left, but Kolanko slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Kolanko is looking to keep his distance and connects with a stinging overhand left.  
Baldonado is looking to close the distance.  Kolanko is on target with a stinging right hook to Baldonado's body.  As Kolanko tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Baldonado dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Kolanko tries to step out of his opponents range and is on target with a WICKED cross.  BALDONADO IS HURT!  Baldonado almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Kolanko lands with a sharp jab.  
Kolanko lands with a spiteful jab.  Kolanko tries to land a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Baldonado steps inside and is on target with a left uppercut to Kolanko's body.  
Kolanko lands an overhand right, cross and a jab to his opponents head.  
Kolanko finds the target with a jab.  
Kolanko steps away from his opponent.  Kolanko sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Baldonado lands an overhand left.  Baldonado tries to land an overhand right, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Kolanko connects with a big overhand right.  BALDONADO WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  
Baldonado is looking to close the distance.  Kolanko thinks he can end the show early....he's looking to put Baldonado away.  Kolanko lands a left hook, cross and a right uppercut to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a right uppercut, cross and a right uppercut to his opponents head.  The winner by KO is Kolanko!
