Akira Sano vs Kazuhiko Sugawara

Boxing Daily Report from the Nottinggham Promotions promoted show at Sendai Tajima, Sendai,  taking place on 22/11/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Japan-Miyagi Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Akira Sano (9(1) - 2) who hails from Sendai, Japan and Kazuhiko Sugawara(7 - 7 - 2) from Sendai, Japan.  Both Sano and Sugawara weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Satoshi Matsui, and the three ringside judges are Mitsuru Miyake, Jiro Mae and Keiichi Okuda.  

Round 1: 

Sano advances into close range and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Sano holds on to his opponent.  Sano leans on his opponent using all his weight. As they grapple, Sano pushes his forearm into Sugawara's face.  The referee warns Sano and breaks the clinch.  
Sano lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  Sano holds on to his opponent.  Sano is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Sano hits home with a cross.  
Sano gets on the inside.  Sugawara pivots from in front of his opponent.  Sano throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Sano clinches his opponent.  Sugawara leans on his opponent using all his weight. Sano throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Sano quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and is on target with a stinging right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Sano drives a right hook into Sugawara's ribs.  
Sano lands a left hook to the body followed by a jab to the head.  
Sano advances into close range and is on target with a right hook to Sugawara's ribs.  
Sugawara steps to the outside and tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
Sano is on target with a right uppercut.  Sano wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Sugawara dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Sano sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Sugawara tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a cross.

You can sense Sugawara is getting frustrated in there.   He throws a low uppercut...that landed well below the belt! The ref halts the action and sends Sano to the neutral corner.    He has a stern word with Sugawara and warns that a point will be deducted if he continues to foul.

Sano is looking to close the distance and digs in a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Sugawara quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Sano digs in a forceful left uppercut to his opponents ribs.  SUGAWARA WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Sugawara recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Sano advances into close range.  Sano pivots to the right of his opponent and digs in a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Sano gets on the inside and lands a right hook.  
Sugawara throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Sugawara pivots to the right of his opponent.  Sano lands a left uppercut, left hook and a right hook to his opponents head.  
Sano walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Sano crashes a spiteful left hook to his opponents body.  SUGAWARA IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 6.  
Sano lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Sugawara tries to keep the action at long range.  Sano feints a left, and then lands a cross followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Sano steps inside and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Sano lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Sugawara almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Sano walks Sugawara into the corner.  Sano lands a right uppercut, right hook and a left uppercut to his opponents body.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  
Sano is looking to force the stoppage!  Sano lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  He follows up the attack and lands a left uppercut, left hook and a right hook to his opponents body, AND SUGAWARA IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He manages to get up at 5.  
Sano lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body, KNOCKING SUGAWARA DOWN!  The ref does not even bother with the count...he's seen enough!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Sano!
