Chinedu Onubogu vs Richie Chiweshe

Boxing Daily Report from the Quick Tan Promotions promoted show at Bellville Velodrome, Cape Town,  taking place on 05/12/2025:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Chinedu Onubogu (15(11) - 0) who hails from Kaduna, Nigeria and Richie Chiweshe(15(1) - 1 - 1) from Harare, Zimbabwe.  Both Onubogu and Chiweshe weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Jake Tshipapayi, and the three ringside judges are Colin Ntuli, Oringo Arthur and Colin Ntuli.  

Round 1: 

Onubogu is on target with a firm cross.  Onubogu tries to land a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut to Onubogu's body.  
Onubogu lands a jab to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Chiweshe lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Chiweshe attempts to land a jab, but Onubogu slips the shot and counters with a cross.

Onubogu closes the distance and digs in a stinging left hook to Chiweshe's liver.

Onubogu digs in a powerful right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  CHIWESHE WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Onubogu attempts to land a left hook, but Chiweshe parries the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Onubogu is really starting to turn up the heat!  He senses a stoppage here.  Onubogu drives a powerful left uppercut into Chiweshe's body.  CHIWESHE IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  
It looks like Chiweshe has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.

Chiweshe pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a solid jab.  
Onubogu closes the distance and digs in a firm left hook to Chiweshe's ribs.  Onubogu attempts to land a left uppercut, but Chiweshe blocks the shot and counters with a cross.
