Hugh Lynch vs Leon Smyth

Boxing Daily Report from the Big Bang Promotions promoted show at Royal Albert Hall, London,  taking place on 23/01/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the Western Europe Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Channel 5, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Hugh Lynch (16(7) - 2) who hails from Edinburgh, UK and Leon Smyth(18 - 5(1)) from London, UK.  Lynch weighed in at 229 pounds and 4 ounces, while Smyth weighed in at 232 pounds and 5 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Justin Dalton, and the three ringside judges are Fraser Carroll, Glynn Reddick and Gordon MacIntyre.  

Round 1: 

Lynch hits the target with a ramrod jab.  
Lynch tries to keep the action at long range and hits home with a cross.  
Smyth attempts to land a jab, but Lynch blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Smyth gets on the inside and is on target with a right uppercut.  
Lynch lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Lynch connects with a solid cross.  
Lynch switches the action to the outside and lands a jab to the body followed by a cross to the head.  
Lynch steps away from his opponent and hits home with a firm overhand right.  
Lynch lands a left hook.  
Lynch throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action and gives Smyth time to recover.  
Lynch lands a stiff jab.  
Smyth gets on the inside and drives a right hook into Lynch's ribcage.  
Smyth lands a left uppercut followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body.  
Smyth lands a left uppercut.  Smyth tries to land a right hook, but Lynch sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Lynch's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Smyth's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.

Lynch attempts to land a jab, but Smyth slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Smyth quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Lynch hits home with a cross.  
Smyth gets on the inside and hits home with a sharp right uppercut.  
Smyth steps inside.  Lynch drives a right hook into Smyth's body.  
Lynch tries to keep the action at long range and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Lynch lands an overhand right to the head followed by a jab to the body.  
Lynch lands a solid cross.  
Lynch lands a hard jab.  Lynch throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a sharp right uppercut.  
Lynch steps away from his opponent.  Smyth hits home with a cross.  
Smyth gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Lynch tries to land a right uppercut, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a firm left uppercut.  
Smyth steps inside and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Lynch lands a CRUSHING left hook.  IT LOOKS LIKE SMYTH WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  
Lynch steps away from his opponent.  Lynch knows Smyth is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  Lynch lands a left hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents head, AND SENDS SMYTH TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 5.  It looks like Smyth has now recovered from that shot earlier.  
Lynch tries to keep the action at long range.  Smyth lands a cross.  
Smyth digs in a left uppercut to Lynch's ribs.  
Smyth lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Smyth throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Smyth lands two left hook's to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Lynch lands a left hook to the body followed by a cross to the head, AND KNOCKS SMYTH DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  
Smyth advances into close range and tries to land a left hook, but Lynch blocks the shot and counters with a sharp right hook.  
Smyth is on target with a sharp right hook.

Smyth is on target with a solid left hook.  Smyth attempts to land a left hook, but Lynch blocks the shot and counters with a stinging left uppercut.  
Smyth manages to force Lynch into a corner.  Smyth is on target with a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Smyth throws a cross, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a VICIOUS left hook.  SMYTH WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  
The right shot from Lynch could be enough to force the stoppage!  Lynch lands a left uppercut, cross and a right hook to his opponents head, AND DROPS SMYTH!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  
Lynch lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head, DROPPING SMYTH TO THE CANVAS!  He is unable to get up before the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Lynch!
