Tobias Rury vs Mark Orton

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Canterbury promoted show at Christchurch Cathey, Christchurch,  taking place on 05/01/2026:

Clearly AI New Zealand-Canterbury have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand-Canterbury Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Tobias Rury (10 - 5 - 3) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and Mark Orton(2 - 13 - 3) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Rury weighed in at 130 pounds, while Orton weighed in at 129 pounds and 8 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Dave Sprouse, and the three ringside judges are Dave Sprouse, Kahorere Keno and Michael Breck.
