Sam Preece vs John Nurse

Boxing Daily Report from the Montreal's Top Gym promoted show at Pavillon de Juenesse, Quebec City,  taking place on 09/01/2026:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Sam Preece (6 - 0) who hails from Winnipeg, Canada and John Nurse(5 - 10(1) - 1) from Mississauga, Canada.  Both Preece and Nurse weighed in at 118 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Laurent Marceau, and the three ringside judges are Gerard Segalen, Aramis Duvauchelle and Destin Dauphin.  

Round 1: 

Preece finds the target with a solid jab.  
Preece closes the distance and lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  Preece holds on to his opponent.  Preece is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Preece lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Nurse steps to the outside.  Preece is on target with a jab.  
Nurse attempts to land a jab, but Preece slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Preece is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Preece gets on the inside and walks Nurse down, trapping him in the corner.  Preece digs in a right hook to Nurse's ribs.  
Preece is looking to close the distance and drives a left uppercut into Nurse's ribs.

Preece snaps his opponents head back with a sharp jab.

Preece gets on the inside.  Nurse throws a left hook, but Preece clinches his opponent.  Preece is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Preece.  
Preece closes the distance and hits home with a left hook.  
Preece lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Preece ties up his opponent.  Preece hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Preece about fouling.
