Kai Chigova vs Paul Saomba

Boxing Daily Report from the Harare Boxing Club promoted show at Brett Gilkison Gym, Harare,  taking place on 10/02/2026:

Clearly Harare Boxing Club have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Zimbabwe-Harare Super Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Kai Chigova (8 - 7 - 3) who hails from Harare, Zimbabwe and Paul Saomba(8 - 4 - 5) from Harare, Zimbabwe.  Chigova weighed in at 122 pounds and 9 ounces, while Saomba weighed in at 122 pounds.    As Chigova came in over the weight limit, only his opponent will be able to compete for the final eliminator position tonight.  
The referee tonight is John Takawira, and the three ringside judges are Peabo Chikwava, Makalo Ncube and Sammy Mukoneweshuro.  

Round 1: 

Saomba steps inside.  Saomba is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  Saomba attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Chigova's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Chigova switches the action to the outside.  Saomba lands a cross.  
Chigova steps inside.  Saomba is on target with a right hook to Chigova's body.  
Saomba quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Chigova hits home with a left hook.  
Saomba tries to land a left hook, but Chigova slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.
